David LEVINTHAL 1975 - 1996

Notes :

[ David Levinthal is one of the foremost photographers of a generation of artists who use photography as a way to critique our culture and our time. He was one of a small group of artists - often labeled Postmodernists - who began in the late 1970s and early 1980s to produce artworks which were mined from our culture's shared visual vocabulary. By photographing objects, toys, and dolls in scenes that remind us of old movies, advertisements and the icons of our shared visual archive of news images from TV or print media, Levinthal plays with the idea of our culture's endless recycling of imagery.
