Grande-Bretagne, Liverpool, Tate Gallery

LS Lowry, Mondrian, George Grosz, Julian Opie, Catherine Yass, Tony Oursle

Notes :

[ This display brings together an extraordinary range of artists' responses to the urban environment. Cities have been a source of inspiration for many artists in the past century, including LS Lowry, Monrian and George Grosz. this display includes significant works from a range of artistic movements in Europe and the United States and enables the comparison of works rarely seen together. Several of the works are by contemporary artists such as Julian Opie, Catherine Yass and Tony Oursler and have only recently been acquired by the Tate. On the eve of a new millennium it will interesting to see if the city continues to be a source of artistic inspiration.
