Notes : [ This site-specific exhibition by renowned Californian artist Robert Irwin will be held in two parts. Taking as his point of departure the extended durations that characterize Dia's exhibition program, Irwin has devised his monumental project to capitalize on the specifics of Dia's light-filled warehouse space, and the unusual length given this exhibition, almost fifteen months. Prologue: x 183 will take place from April 12 to June 14. This first segment will be lit by a combination of natural light and a grid of subtle electric lights. The second segment, Excursus: Homage to the Square3, which will be on display from September 10, 1998 through June, 1999, will introduce artificial color, in the form of a variety of resonant hues which will irradiate the eighteen chambers into which the exhibition is divided. source: http://www.diacenter.org ] |
