Exposition. Tony OURSLER: Video Dolls Featuring Tracy Leipold

02 juillet 1998 - 07 septembre 1998

USA, Washington D.C., Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden

"The first solo museum show in Washington for New York--based artist Tony Oursler (b. 1957) focuses on his video-animated sculptures using his most frequent model, Tracy Leipold. The doll-like cloth figures have "talking heads" in the form of live- action projections of Leipold's face spouting emotional and psychological ruminations; a projector and various props complete each tableau. Oursler's disquieting, often humorous fusion of sculpture, video, and performance has earned him growing acclaim. A brochure by organizing curator Sidney Lawrence accompanies the exhibition."
